Up Grey Mountain--January 29, 2006

Last weekend, I hiked up Grey Mountain with Michael Pealow, a colleague working with Yukon government. Image shows scene looking just north of Whitehorse.

When we got to the top, I got a call on my cell phone from Fawn, Michael's wife, explaining that her 'water broke'...so down the mountain we went. Michael and Fawn are now parents and their daughter, Jade, is a healthy and new Whitehorse resident.

One of the best things about hiking in Yukon is the relatively short length of time it takes to get to a number of good trails. It is a 15 minute drive to a good starting point for hiking up Grey Mountain...about double that to get to the trail head for a hike into Fish Lake and beyond.

In mid-January, Michael and Richard Provan, also from our Department (Economic Development), hiked into Fish Lake for an overnight trip...featured in a different post--Fish Lake Trip.
